The Lutheran Mission
Society is in need...
The Lutheran Mission Society is in need of a room for a Lutheran
deaconess candidate who will be interning with LMS from January 2008
until January 2009. The intern is a 22 year old college grad,
non-smoker, with her own transportation. Individual accommodations or
sharing a residence with female roommates would work -- location
preferably in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area. Needs to be very
reasonable financially (free would be a blessing) since intern will be
receiving only a modest income. Please contact Rev. David Maack

Youth Groups - Suggestion: Establish
an Advisory Board
With the last meeting we had with Andrew Kassouf, there were a few
things that came to the forefront to proceed with on our end to begin
promoting our youth. The first thing was obtaining a space for our
youth. That has already been establishing at the area by the soda
machine will be a YOUTH LOUNGE. The lounge will be started after the
weekend of the Flea Market - so we are off to the races in moving along
with the youth being involved.
Now, to
help support the youth, another suggestion from Andrew, was to set up a
Youth Advisory Board of interested adults from the church to support and
promote future plans for the youth - this might include:
- establishing another - separate place - for the youth
- training of youth leaders - and later down the road - a youth pastor
(part-time/full
time)
- building the youth program at Redeemer
These are just few ideas
I would
like to know if anyone is interested in sitting on this advisory board.
If so, please let me know and I will keep track of the names and try to
find a
date and time that will work for us to meet.

Centers. Reserves have dwindled during the summer months. As you know,
the Mission Society provides food for individuals and families in need
throughout the year. Needed are non-perishable food items, particularly
food products such as: proteins - tuna fish, beef stew, canned meats,
etc., soups, juices and canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, cereals,
powdered milk, macaroni & cheese, rice, spaghetti & spaghetti sauce, and
canned vegetables. Food donations can be placed in Schmeising hall
beside the soda machine along with the other Lutheran Mission Society
donations.
Dear Redeemer Family,
I really appreciate being able to attend with Miss Kim Siebert the 2007
LCMS National Youth Gathering in Orlando, Florida. We joined together
with St. Johns, Glen Arm, youth and adults and I had the opportunity to
meet some of the nicest kids I know. While down there I attended
sessions about how we can easily apply God's word to our daily lives to
make them better. We also got to enjoy time to recreate, meet new people
and visit all of the different LCMS District booths. In the mornings (no
matter how early) we attended bible studies then were off to attend/
participate in the various events being held within the Convention
center. From 8-10 pm each night we attended Mass Gathering with worship
and communion with the 30,000 other youth attending from all over the
country. While at the events we enjoyed music performed by Fusebox,
Echelon and the Concordia Gospel Choir. It was awesome! Thank you
for allowing me to have this amazing spiritual experience. Jessica

Thank You From the Hales Family
On behalf of myself and my sons Adam, Zach, and Peter, I want to thank
all of the Redeemer "family" for your love and support and most of all
for your prayers through Rich's long and challenging battle. We
appreciated you visits, meals and cards. Thank you to all who were able
to attend Rich's Celebration of Life service. While honoring Rich, we
could feel the love and presence of our Lord! A very special thank you
to Pastor for your faithful visits and comfort and for the beautiful
service, to Pat for playing the special music, to Rob for the touching
bagpipe tribute, to our wonderful Redeemer choir-you touched many
hearts, and to Bayard for your kind remembrance of Rich, and of
course, a special thank you to all who worked so hard to prepare and
serve the delicious luncheon.
Thank You Lord, for our Redeemer "Family".
Letter from the US
coordinator for the ABRO program
Please read an
email that was sent to the host families in the United States from Joe
Strong, the US coordinator for the ABRO program. It reinforces that we
as Americans truly take our freedoms for granted. After being in their
country last year and feeling the oppression as well as understanding
the restrictions on all Belarusans, this email is not shocking, but
disturbing. Click Here to read this email
Altar Flowers
The church counts on
the congregation to donate flowers each week to help beautify the sanctuary
during service. The cost of these flowers is $25 each week, except on special
Sundays when we have two arrangements (and two people can sign up). These
Sundays are highlighted on the sign-up sheet on the hallway bulletin board. The
donor is then welcome to take the arrangement home after service, or donate it
further to be taken to a shelter, the sick or a nursing home. Please let
Pastor Jim
know if that is your wish. The altar is always bare for the six weeks during Lent. Please help
us to fill it the rest of the year by signing up. Let
Sue Lieske know the occasion or
purpose for your flower donation or write it on the sign-up sheet, so that she
can put it in the bulletin. Please sign up one week in advance. For
further information contact

Letter to the

November

Redeemer Lutheran
Parkton, Maryland
Dear Redeemer Friends in Christ:
About four years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. The
doctor’s were not very optimistic at the time and I was given
about four months to enjoy all that God had provided me. Here
it is four YEARS later and I am still enjoying God’s treasures.
How did this happen? It was only through a strong faith AND
the many many prayers said for me over these past years by my
friends at Redeemer as well as others. If it were not for YOUR
prayers I strongly believe I would not have been here this
long. God has blessed Redeemer with a caring congregation and
through that I have been tremendously uplifted.
Eileen, my sons, and I THANK YOU for all that you have done and
continue to do for me and all of the others that are suffering
from this disease. You, through God, have lifted me up and
helped me through this process.
We sincerely thank you.

ABRO
Dear Redeemer Family. This year, as you know, Raman Shalupov will not be
returning to the United States because he has aged out of the ABRO
program. We have heard from him in the past several months and he has
taken the SATs to enter into the American university in Bulgaria. As of
this writing, he has not heard about his test results. Please pray that
he will be accepted.
Then Anastasiya Lishankova will also not be returning to the US
because the ABRO program through Stewartstown Baptist Church did not
have enough children returning to support an interpreter. There is a
group in the upper part of York as well as Virginia, but we have been
told that the interpreter must be not more than an hour away from the
children. She has been doing very well with her classical music classes
as well as her studies. She dreams of going to Minsk to learn at the
university located in this capital of Belarus to further her musical
talent. In her last email, she explained that her mother had received a
pay increase and that they were moving into a new flat that was a bit
larger than the one where they were presently living. She would then
have a room of her own. This was very exciting for both her mom as well
as her. Please pray that Ann will have an enjoyable summer in her new
flat with her mom and her cat.
And all of the Keimigs would like to thank the congregation of
Redeemer for supporting both of these children. It not only gave Raman
and Ann a chance to experience an American culture, but it has given our
family a chance to nurture two children who gave us such blessings over
the past six years. Raman has promised that he will, one day, make it
back to the United States. We pray that this dream of his will be
fulfilled and that once again, we will be amazed at God’s ability to do
all things. So from all the Keimigs, our most sincere appreciation and
gratitude for this mission of Raman and Ann visiting the United States
through the American Belarusian Relief Organization.
Hereford Food Bank Needs
Donations
A special thank you to all who
donated soups and other foods and goods during the last two months. The
Hereford Food Bank is currently experiencing a quick turnover in
donations. They are taking care of feeding more than 40 families now,
largely because of gas prices, higher food costs, etc. The Hereford Food
Bank provides food, hygiene items, and cleaning products to families in
our Parkton area. Due to a government grant which helps to fund some of
the foods, they can not take open packages or expired foods. They also
can not use the grant money to buy paper towels and non-food items. Here
are some of the items they especially need now. Please add one to your
grocery list this week and drop it in the blue box at church:
Canned carrots, fruits, and baked beans, Mac and cheese, rice and mashed
potato boxes, cereal, boxes of Jello, pudding, and desserts, spaghetti
sauce (not pasta - they have tons), canned meats (not tuna - they have
plenty), pancake mixes and syrup, juice and jelly, toilet paper, paper
towels, shampoo and feminine hygiene products, bars of soap, dish and
clothing detergents. Thanks a bunch and God Bless, Karen Barclay

Pastor Jim, Thank
you for your packages and thank you for your continued prayers. I
believe they are making a difference. I also believe that we are making
a difference here in Iraq. While no one enjoys being away from their
family and friends (especially during the holidays) it is a job that
must be done, and I could not be any prouder of my marines and sailors
for the job they are doing. Thanks again and please continue to pray for
our safety and timely return. – S D Morrison

The ABRO program -
Update November 2007
Within the next few months, the ABRO
program through Stewartstown Baptist Church will be beginning the
process of bringing children from Belarus to the United States for six
weeks in the summer of 2008. As you know, in the past, the Keimig
family has hosted both Raman Shalupov and Anastasiya Lishankova several
years. Last year Raman turned 16 and as of April 15th, he
will have aged out of the program, thus leaving a space for another
family to host a child through the sponsorship of the church. If anyone
is interested in knowing more about the ABRO program, there is a link on
the church’s website for more information. If anyone is interested in
hosting a child, please contact Karen Keimig (410-343-2767 or
kickeimig@gmail.com ) for estimated dates of meetings in
January/February to meet at Stewartstown Baptist Church. Thank you for
considering this outreach ministry of a child from another country.

Hereford Food Bank
Please Continue To Make Donations of non-perishable food to
the Hereford Food Bank. The box is located outside the secretary's
office. The Hereford Food Bank relies on local groups to provide foods
and paper products for the needy in their area. Also due to funding
from a Government grant they are not allowed to place expired food items
on their shelves and cannot use that funding to purchase paper products.
Money may also be donated. Currently in need are cereals,
canned/bottled juice, spaghetti noodles and sauce, canned meats such
as chicken or spam, paper products such as paper towels, canned soups,
desserts such as brownie mixes and the like. They continue to thank you
for your past donations and I will take it each month over to the
Hereford Food Bank. If you have any questions feel free to ask me,
Karen Barclay. Thank You!!

Coats For Kids
The Fund for Social Welfare, a non profit organization serving the
clients of Balto. Co. Dept of Social Services, is gearing up once again
to provide new winter coats to financially disadvantaged children. For
as little as $25.00 you can ensure a child has a coat that fits during
the upcoming winter months and that the holidays bring more than just
toys to our youth. Whether it’s a donation for one coat, five coats or
more, the families will be most appreciative. Please make you check
payable to Fund for Social Welfare and send to 6401 York Rd. Suite 1029,
Baltimore, MD 21212. In the memo field please write “coats for kids”.
For more information on how you can help please call 410-853-3024.
Troop
Support
Over 75
pounds of supplies were sent to Iraq to support our soldiers. Items were
shipped to three different units where PX items were unavailable or
unreliable. A letter was enclosed with each box from the Redeemer
congregation offering our prayers for safety and peace along with a
Gospel message. Thank you to all who supported this endeavor.

A Special Thank You
My wife and I

help, their prayers and their good wishes for our June 10th
50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration. Special thanks to
Pastor Banach and to all those who arranged for those who set up and
took down and also for those who organized the parking. We had rave

Drivers Needed - H.O.P.E.
Drivers
Needed H.O.P.E. is seeking volunteer drivers to assist in getting
patients to and from medical appointments. As our service area increases
so does the need to get more drivers. If you think you would like to
assist by driving, please call Mary Staton at the H.O.P.E. Office
717-227-2824. This seems like a nice outreach if anyone is interested.
As you are probably aware H.O.P.E. works with people who are on a
journey with cancer Thank you in advance for your consideration of this
need.
The new Lutheran Service Book
- Hymnal 2007
Commonly referred
to as “The Hymnal,” it is, in reality, so much more. The
Lutheran Service Book is
a rich compilation of services, psalms, hymns, and prayers that will
nourish and edify the faithful week after week for generations to
come. If you would like to give our congregation a special gift by
purchasing one or more Pew Edition of the new hymnal, please
click
here for
the order form.
Portals of
Prayer
Have you ever listen to the Portals of Prayer
presentations available on this Redeemer Web Site? Everyday
there is a new two minute presentation from the Concordia
Publishing House. If you listen to it once, you will listen to
it often! Click on “Portals of Prayer”

Scholarship
Committee
The
church council has authorized a sub-committee to work on the
scholarship issues. We would like to have a minimum of five
people to work on this important project. We are hoping to have
proposals for the scholarship fund ready to present at the next
congregational meeting (sometime in the spring), so this would
be a fairly short term commitment, and would require very few
meetings. If you are interested in serving on this committee
please contact: Candy Riddle at
dancanriddle@comcast.net
or 410-343-2451
God and
Family Award
On Scout Sunday, Pastor
Banach awarded the God and Family Medal to Michael Class. “God
and Family” is the
second
of four awards in the God and Country series sponsored by the
Lutheran Church and presented by the Boy Scouts of America. To
earn this award Michael worked with a counselor to complete a
workbook and program that compared the family to a pizza. The
crust represents the family’s foundation on God; the sauce
represents the family and spiritual heritage, the toppings
represents the gifts that each family member has been given, and
the cheese represents the rules and guidelines that hold
everything together. Pastor reviewed and approved Michael’s
workbook and “pizza” in order for Michael to be eligible to
receive the award. Michael is a 4th grade student at
Prettyboy Elementary School and a Webelos I Scout with Pack 523
at Our Lady of Grace church in Parkton, MD.

to jump in. The class meets in the secretary's office at 9:15
every Sunday.
Special Thanks
Dear Redeemer
Lutheran Congregation, Thanks so much for helping pay
for us to go to Youth Quake Jan.12-14, 2007. We had a blast!! We stayed at the
Marriot Inn in Hunt Valley which is where the Youth Quake was Located.
At Youth Quake we listened to great Bands (Agape and Captive Free North
East) motivational speakers, and had small group activities. I would
like to thank Miss Kim Seibert for taking Beth, Kristen, and I to Youth
Quake. I learned so much from Youth Quake about how God helps me in
everyday life and how I can trust in Him when I am sad, mad, worried, or
confused. Thanks again for an amazing weekend and I can't wait to go
next year!!!!! Sincerely, Katelynn Linthicum
